Hayley Tompkins ‘Currents’

The new installation Currents, is built around arrangements of clothing, digital colour photographs and adjusted ready-mades. Using pieces of used and bought fabric, alongside technological devices and other painted material, Tompkins will seek to embody a person interacting with their immediate environment, working through various thoughts, action and desires.

Hayley Tompkins (born 1971, Leighton Buzzard) lives and works in Glasgow. Recent solo exhibitions include A Piece of Eight, The Modern Institute, Glasgow (2011); Autobuilding, Inverleith House, Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (2009);and Transfer (with Sue Tompkins) Spike Island, Bristol (2007). Her work is included in Watercolour, currently at Tate Britain, London.
