Artissima 2022

The Modern Institute is pleased to participate in Artissima 2022.

We will exhibit a solo presentation by Marco Giordano.

From Federico García Lorca’s lecture, ‘On Lullabies’, 1928, derives both the exhibition’s title and a reference point for a body of work that desires not to delineate nor define, but suggest and stimulate, imagining and animating the liminal space space between the corporeal experiences of waking life and mental wilderness of sleep.

Alongside this sculptural installation, Giordano will also show a series of new pieces made specifically for The Modern Institute’s presentation at Artissima. These new works are born from Giordano’s research for ‘Loop Pool’, a major installation exibited at Pinacoteca Agnelli opening on Monday 1st November. More information on this project is included on page 13 of this document.

The project ‘Loop Pool’ consists of a series of poetic texts installed in a similar way to road markings; which continue into the works shown at Artissima. The new panels and works on paper follow a similar process in which letters, signs and painted marks overlap through time, forming uncontrolled languages and images.
